The Tiki Vacation
The Tiki Vacation Spot!
You don’t have to get on a plane and fly somewhere exotic to get that same South Pacific ambiance of the palm trees, beach and the primitive feel of a Tiki Bar. If you have ever seen the Elvis movie “Paradise, Hawaiian Style”, you will know exactly what a Tiki Bar is or at least the feel of the whole “Tiki” atmosphere.
The Tiki Bar was very popular in the late 1950’s, then went out of “style”. Recently, there has been a resurgence of the whole idea of building a Tiki bar in your own yard to enjoy the whole primitive feeling that a Tiki Bar can add to your yard. When you add a Tiki Bar to your yard, you will feel as though you are on permanent vacation.
So where would you find plans to build a Tiki Bar? You can download plans instantly and go to the lumber yard for supplies, same day. It is very simple to build a Tiki Bar, the “hut” is the main building that covers the bar area.
It may take anywhere from one day to seven days, depending on your skill level, but once you have completed the project, you might have to take your phone off the hook, because you will have a never ending stream of people coming over to “share” your new virtual vacation spot with you.
Here are a few maintenance tips:
- Never tarp your tiki bar roof for more than 2 days because the moisture that will build up will cause mold and will rot your leaf thatched roof;
- If you are going to put a tarp over your tiki bar for a day or two, never tarp the entire bar under one tarp, if a strong wind occurs, it will blow over your entire bar!
Other than simple maintenance, there isn’t much you have to worry about with this little getaway spot. You don’t have to worry about renting it out (as with a time share), you don’t have to pay for a flight to get there, there are no expensive hotels or meals, just a few short steps out your back door and you are on vacation!
Besides the materials required to build your bar, the next most expensive accessory you probably can’t live without is a good blender. How else will you blend up your mai tais and rum based cocktails?
